Tuku Celebrates Forty Years Of Music

Veteran musician and multi-award winner Oliver Tuku Mutukudzi will be on the 5th of December celebrating 40 years of Tuku music at Pakare Paye in Norton.

The legendary singer’s manangement team took to social media to share the exciting news. “This year we are going to have biggest celebrations as we will be looking back on the journey we made in making great music and we are inviting all our fans to come in their numbers.”

South African celebrated musician, Ringo who featured Tuku in the smashing hit Into Yam will herald the celebration and reminiscing with the superstar are the original Black Spirits, Donald Kanyuchi and Munya Mataruse.

Sungura giants Sulumani Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah will also be featured together with gospel legends Sabastian Magacha, Diva Mafunga and Chiedza Chevatenda.

“Tuku music dated way before independence, in 1975, from then Samanyanga has never turned back and through thick and thin he has mastered his arts and remains the best not only in Zimbabwe but on international scenes.”

Mtukudzi made his first appearence with the group Wagon Wheels a band which featured Thomas Mapfumo, their song Dzandimomotera went gold and his first album followed.

Today he is celebrating with more than 56 albums under his belt among them are Shoko, Svovi Yangu, Neria which was the soundtrack of the 1993 movie he stared in and Sugar Pie.
