Why Oprah Was An Hour Late For Last Show In Australia Tour

OPRAH Winfrey took the stage an hour late for the final show on her “An Evening with Oprah” tour at Allphones Arena in Sydney last night.

Her tardy appearance was down to a ticketing issue that meant scanners couldn’t read mobile tickets, delaying her scheduled appearance at 8pm.
Oprah’s inspirational performance had the crowd hanging off her every word.
The star apologised to the 21,000-strong crowd at the sold-out show, joking that she had been scanning tickets for people upstairs and hadn’t wanted to start without anyone. She was quickly forgiven by adoring fans, who gave her a standing ovation when she walked on stage and again at the end.

A spokesperson for the TV personality said in a statement: “This evening, the Ticketek mobile platform went down at Allphones Arena and for a short period of time, the ticket scanners were unable to read any mobile tickets. In order to accommodate guests, we held the show until mobile ticket holders were in their seats.”

The audience quickly forgave her for the ticketing stuff-up.

A gracious Oprah later made special mention of Lindt siege survivor Louisa Hope, who was in the audience, crediting her for being strong and positive and asking her to stand up for a round of applause.

“One of the things she’s done is chosen to respond with kindness and say ‘we can all rise together’ so let’s give her a standing ovation,” said the 61-year-old. “We stand with you Louisa.” She also acknowledged Prince of Wales Hospital for its work in treating Louisa and her injuries.
